Guidelines for what is NOT covered by the Schrade, Smith & Wesson and or Taylor Brands cutting tool warranty:
1. Our Lifetime Warranty clearly is to protect the purchaser of the knife from defects in materials, manufacturing or assembly. If for some reason you do receive a product that has a defect this will be readily apparent within moments of you first using the product. For example if the lock does not properly work or engage, if the blades do not deploy easily or if the knife in general does not function properly or exhibits flaws in its workmanship, any and all of these type of defects would be easily noted and would fall under what is covered by the warranty policy. Included in the warranty are instructions detailing how to properly care for your knife, regular maintenance such as sharpening, cleaning and oiling are highly recommended and can help to prolong the life of the product. With proper use and care your Schrade, Smith & Wesson or Taylor Brands cutting tool will last a lifetime. Remember any knife can be broken or damaged if subjected to sufficient abuse and that ALL knives eventually wear out and must be replaced, the eventual wearing out of the product is normal and would not fall under the warranty.
2. NOT COVERED- our warranty policy does not cover damages due to misuse, abuse, neglect or cosmetic abrasions. These are cutting tools and their purpose is anything from light to heavy duty cutting. These tools are in no way designed to function as a screwdriver, hammer, shovel or pry bar. Normal wear and tear is expected with the use of any product and therefore is not considered a defect in materials or workmanship. After extensive use the tool will not have the same new appearance and this is normal. Cosmetic abrasions such as scratched blades and/or the wearing off of any type of colored handle or blade is normal as well and not covered by the warranty. The knife should never be used as a hammer or any type of pounding or driving tool and damages to the handle or blade from the result of this type of misuse are not covered by the warranty. Again, these are precision cutting tools and that is what they are solely designed for. Any alteration of the product by the purchaser instantly voids the warranty. Remember any knife can be broken or damaged if subjected to sufficient abuse and that ALL knives eventually wear out and must be replaced, the eventual wearing out of the product is normal and would not fall under the warranty.
TAYLOR BRANDS LLC LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY
This product is warranted to the original consumer purchaser, for as long as he or she owns this product. Coverage ends if you transfer or sell the product to someone else or if the product is modified in any way. The warranty covers defects in materials, manufacture or assembly. If one of our products ever breaks or fails due to material or manufacturing defect we will repair or replace the product.
The warranty does not cover normal wear, damage caused by abuse, misuse, improper handling, loss, accident, alterations, neglect, disassembly or improper sharpening. Cosmetic damage which occurs over time and use, such as scratches on a products finish or coatings on a product rubbing or wearing off are normal and are not covered by the warranty. Our products rarely fail because of a defect and in most cases the failure or breakage is due to "tool abuse". "Tool abuse", is when the product is used for unsuitable non intended purposes. Examples would be using a knife for any other purpose than cutting (pounding, prying, using as a screwdriver, throwing the knife etc). Multi-purpose tools are not intended to replace full-sized tools and are for use only on light or moderately heavy-duty applications. Collapsible batons are not pry bars etc. Always use the proper tools for the proper intended purposes.
